Frequently Asked Questions

What is EMDR?

EMDR is a brain-based method of therapy that uses bilateral stimulation or alternating stimulation on either side of the body to activate both sides of the brain. This activation unlocks the brain’s ability to heal itself- connecting the subconscious with a person’s conscious ability to verbalize and process. Simply put, it makes the work being done in therapy far more effective.

What is EMDR used for?

EMDR was traditionally exclusively used to treat PTSD but has since been discovered to have the potential to treat almost any diagnosis to some degree. EMDR exercises can be helpful in alleviating symptoms of anxiety, depression, and PTSD with increasing effectiveness with increased frequency of use.
